Quiver - take better notes App Reviews

Riddled with Formatting issues and Bugs!

The cell idea is a little frustrating. It would be nice if I could highlight some code and it would format it as code instead of creating a whole new cell. Sometimes with lists I cannot delete an empty bullet point at the end of the list. Sometimes the font size seems to change randomly when pressing the heading formats. When backspacing, the carrot goes straight to the previous cell without deleting an empty space line at the top. The heading formats margins are too large. I will keep editing this comment becuase this program is full of bugs!

Fantastic!

Quiver is fantastic for keeping track of notes I take on environment, code, etc. Mixing markdown and code and plain text in each note helps me keep my documentation organized and sharable with my co-developers

A fine polish of an already great feature set!

Quiver was already the best notebook I had seen for taking notes as a software developer who writes in markdown. This update polished all of the great features that the app already had. The addition of side by side viewing while writing notes is great, while it is not my default view it is great to be able to click and quickly view the document in its final form. All around great app that has been worth every penny! Many thanks to the developers! tldr: Great app for specific purpose, now polished and better than ever.

It really is Evernote for Programmers

An amazing piece of software that can change how you take notes a developer. If you are a developer and use Evernote, you will feel right at home. The beauty of thie application is more than skin deep; it is simply *fast*. Huge kudos to the sole developer of this app. One of my favourite parts of this app, is simply using Markdown to format everything. It helps alivate you as a writer and still color codes headers, strong and emphasized text in different colours. Diagramming is also pretty fun and useful to think through complex problems.

Great for writers, too

Love it. I’m a writer, not a programmer, but Quiver is an essential tool in my belt. I collect snippets, story ideas, character and setting bits and pieces, and organize them easily in Quiver. It’s easy to grab the bits I need from their cells, and easy to review and organize all the moving parts in my current and future books. And the ability to use either plain text or markdown interchangeably in sections allows me to add, store, and edit in whatever format is easiest in the moment. Quiver has become an essential component of my writing tools, and the forthcoming iOS version will be the icing on this cake.

Amazing

This app is so great and I use it all the time for all my school programming notes etc. My only qualm is with "Pretty Print" no matter what language I try it in, it never makes my code "pretty". It just compacts everything together deleting any spaces and new lines. Which is still cool, but maybe consider not calling it "Pretty Print" and something more like "Compact Code". Another qualm: Swift syntax highlighting doesnt function quite as it should. Ive noticed incorrect syntax highlighting for various function and operator code. Keep up the great work!

Wonderful

Tried out Evernote, Leo, OneNote and others - this is exactly the best notepad I have ever had on any operating system. I started using it for much more than coding notes. Absolutely love it. <3 Thank you! <3

Fantastic

Ill write in English, for the authors sake. This app is a Godsend. I always wanted such thing as a programmer. Whan a read a technical book, or watch a screencast, read an article about programming, I almost always make a note. I definded a system with markdown files for this, bit it always was sub par. And now, when I saw this app, I bought it this instant! Thak you, author! Please continue your development!

5 stars

Love this app!

Excellent

My respect to devs. Thx!

Excelent release! Must have!

A lot of thanks to the developers! Using it everyday.

Great job!

Special thanks for import *enex files

Best notes app!

Markdown, syntax highlight, friendly editor and awesome cells feature. I really hope, that someday full LaTeX support will be available in this app! Markdown is ok, but with LaTeX support, it can be very powerful and beatiful editor.

Good idea but still missing some key features

I like the software and the general idea of mixed cells of different kind (markdown, plain text and code). The usability is good and the overall experience it’s nice. To be a valid choice for notes keeping and code archiving more keyboard shortcut are needed. It’s very important, as in other apps, the ability to hide and bring to front the app via global shortcuts. The ability to choose the default folder for the stored notes would be definitely an improvement.

Clear and polished , but ...

The App in itself looks good but it lacks some basic features, most of all : - Option to choose default save dir - Quick delete notes - Shortcut access - Drag n drop rearrange of cells

great for code!

Pros: *Regular updates *Highlight syntax *Folders *Search *Tags *iCloud *Presentation mode Cons: Not seeing any yet :)

Sounded more interesting than it is.

While I’m sure that the cell-based structure of this editor may be awesome, it did not fit my workflow or writing style. To change from code to markdown, you have to switch between highly modal cells, which did not work for me as well as I had hoped.

Nice, but...

I just purchased Quiver, and I’ve already run into a serious issue. The “Paste Hyperlink” doesn’t work… I am unable to highlight text, and hit Command-K to “convert” to a hyperlink. You can paste a full URL, but this is really long, ugly and non-descriptive. This is a big problem for my use. Pressing Cmd-K doesn’t do anything… it appears to be completely broken. Otherwise first impression is pretty good. If the above issue was fixed, I would be very happy.

It’s a nice app, can be improved, great developer & support

Quiver is a great app to store all your notes and use as draft for blog posts or just to remember things that you learn throughout your day. What I like: - the cell structure allows a lot of flexibility and allows you to combine code, markdown and - allows for vim, emacs and ace keybindings for editing - vim implementation is decent - it syncs between my home and work computers using dropbox - great support!! -> the developer has created a github repo for issues where he answers questions and fixes bugs on a regular basis. He is very responsive. What I dislike: - shortcuts are a bit weird and often lacking (jumping from note to note?, jump from cell to cell while in vim mode) - interface has a dark theme but it only makes the toolbar and sidebar dark, not the note list or the editing section, the themes apply only to the code cells (see SnippetLab app on the appstore for a good example of theming implementation) (this will be solved in version 3 which is coming out soon!) - vim implementation lacks some really important features such as block select mode, / search, :w:q.
